Leila Counselling

About Leila

You don't have to explain everything before you can be understood.

I'm Leila, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Education.

For more than 10 years, I have supported adults navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.

My work is grounded in the belief that therapy should be both compassionate and purposeful. You deserve a space where you can feel safe enough to be honest, while also having the support and practical tools to move toward meaningful change.

My perspective

My lived experience as an immigrant shapes how I understand cross-cultural identity, belonging, and the emotional realities of building a life in a new country.

Migration can involve much more than changing where you live. It can affect relationships, identity, family roles, expectations, language, belonging, and the way you understand yourself.

Sometimes people find themselves between worlds — carrying parts of where they came from while trying to create a life in a new place. I understand how complicated that can be.

This perspective informs the way I work with immigrants and people navigating cross-cultural experiences. I don't approach your story with assumptions. I want to understand what your experience means to you.

How I work

My style is warm, structured, collaborative, and non-judgmental.

I use an integrative, trauma-informed and narrative-informed approach. This means that therapy is adapted to your needs rather than following one fixed formula.

Sometimes we begin with practical tools to help reduce anxiety, panic, hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, or other symptoms that are making daily life difficult. When you're ready, we can explore deeper patterns, relationships, beliefs, experiences, and stories that may be influencing your present.

You remain an active participant in your own therapeutic process.

A place to be yourself

Whether you're dealing with something that happened recently or carrying experiences from many years ago, you don't need to arrive with a perfect explanation. You can start wherever you are.

My role is to walk alongside you, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, reconnect with your strengths, and create space for new possibilities.

Counselling is available in English and Farsi, in person in North Vancouver and online across British Columbia.
