Cross-Cultural & Immigrant Counselling
You shouldn't have to choose between where you came from and who you're becoming.
Building a life in a new country can bring opportunity, but it can also bring complicated emotions.
You may be navigating questions about identity, belonging, family expectations, relationships, language, culture, or what it means to feel at home.
Sometimes the people around you don't fully understand what you're experiencing. And sometimes you don't fully understand it yourself.
Therapy across cultures
As an immigrant myself, I understand that cross-cultural experiences can be deeply personal.
Migration can affect how we understand ourselves, how we relate to family, how we make decisions, and what we believe we are supposed to be.
You may find yourself balancing different cultural values, expectations, and identities. There may also be intergenerational differences that make relationships with family particularly complicated.
Therapy can provide a space to explore these experiences without judgment.
We can explore:
- Cultural identity
- Immigration and adjustment
- Belonging and isolation
- Family expectations
- Intergenerational differences
- Relationships across cultures
- Identity changes
- Shame and self-esteem
- Loss and grief connected to migration
- Building a new life while maintaining meaningful connections to your past
I work with adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and offer counselling in English and Farsi.
You don't have to explain your experience through someone else's cultural lens.
You can bring your whole story here.
