Trauma & PTSD Counselling

When the past continues to show up in the present.

Trauma can change the way we experience ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

Sometimes the experience feels very present through anxiety, panic, hypervigilance, intrusive memories, nightmares, emotional shutdown, or a persistent feeling that something is wrong.

Other times, trauma may show up more quietly — as difficulty trusting others, shame, disconnection, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, or feeling unable to relax.

You may know that you are safe now, while your body and mind continue to respond as though you aren't.

Trauma-informed therapy

My approach begins with creating safety and stability.

We may start with practical tools to help you manage symptoms and feel more grounded in your daily life. When you feel ready, we can explore deeper patterns and triggers and consider how past experiences may continue to influence the present.

There is no requirement to move faster than you're ready to move.

You don't have to tell your story perfectly.

Trauma can make it difficult to put experiences into words.

Therapy isn't about forcing you to revisit everything before you're ready. It is about creating enough safety and understanding to begin making sense of what you're experiencing.

Together, we can work toward:

  • Greater emotional regulation
  • Reduced anxiety and hypervigilance
  • A stronger sense of safety
  • Greater self-understanding
  • Healthier relationship patterns
  • Reconnecting with your strengths
  • Developing new ways of responding to difficult experiences

Healing doesn't mean erasing what happened.

It can mean developing a different relationship with what happened — and with yourself.

You can begin at your own pace.
